Evening With Lafayette

An Evening with Young General Lafayette

On May 15

th at 7 p.m., join Jeffersonville Township Public Library and General Lafayette
himself for an evening of Founding Era fun to celebrate America 250 and Lafayette's May 1825
visit to Jeffersonville. During the American Revolution, General Lafayette came to America
from France as a starry-eyed 19-year-old, intending to join George Washington's army and
avenge the death of his father at the hands of the British during the French and Indian War.
Generous, brave, and wise beyond his years, Lafayette quickly endeared himself to Americans,
especially the childless George Washington, who treated Lafayette like a son.
19-year-old Roy Wulf will interpret Lafayette. Wulf has interpreted young Lafayette for the
American Friends of Lafayette during the recent Lafayette tour of America. Come for an evening
of storytelling, music, and conversation. The event will take place in meeting rooms A & B of
Jeffersonville Township Public Library’s Clarksville facility at 1312 Eastern Boulevard,
Clarksville, Indiana. Refreshments will be served.
Financial support for this program comes from the Jeffersonville Township Public Library
Foundation and numerous community donors.
